Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber are teaming up for a new single, and fans don’t have to wait long to hear it: The collaboration is coming Friday (Oct. 4).
Titled “10,000 Hours,” the mid-tempo song was written by Dan + Shay’s Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, along with Bieber, Jordan Reynolds, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd. Produced by Smyers, the track is the first from Dan + Shay’s next album, the follow-up to their 2018 self-titled third LP, Billboard exclusively learned.
Dan + Shay teased that a new song was coming Oct. 4 on their Instagram and Twitter accounts on Sept. 29, with Bieber cryptically sharing their posts. The country duo took to social media to reveal the collab on Wednesday (Oct. 2), with Bieber also sharing the news and calling the song “wedding music.”
Bieber, Mooney and Smyers have been friends for more than five years, and Dan + Shay attended Bieber’s wedding to Hailey Baldwin on Sept. 30. Dan + Shay are co-managed by Jason Owen and Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun.
The song follows Dan + Shay’s string of three No. 1s on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart (“Tequila,” “Speechless” and “All to Myself”), and Bieber’s summer smash with Ed Sheeran, “I Don’t Care,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May.
